Adoption Fees
Once a family has been screened, beginning with an Adoption
Application
(Request an Online Application), and approved for adoption, part of finalizing an adoption is
payment of an
Adoption Fee. The Adoption Fee is intended to cover direct and indirect expenses
incurred while the pet is in the rescue program.
In general, this Adoption Fee covers the cost of
Veterinary Health Checks,
Spaying/Neutering
the rescue pet,
deworming,
Heartworm Tests and preventative up to the time of adoption,
Flea/Tick Preventative up to the time of adoption, and
Rabies and general
Vaccinations
current up to the time of adoption.
Adoption Fees are assessed based on the following factors:
-Age
-Breed
-Overall Health
-Special Circumstances
Special Circumstances may include expenses such as surgeries, Heartworm Treatments, and
extenuating travel or boarding to obtain the animal (such as Hurricane Katrina Rescue Pets). The
Humane League of Lake Lanier is lucky to have the support of the community who donate
funds to cover such expenses, allowing HLLL to continue rescuing pets in need of an extra
helping hand while keeping adoption fees affordable.
The Humane League of Lake Lanier is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that does not receive
financial support from County, State or Federal tax money. All donations are tax deductible
as provided by law.
